State of scientific research in Finland

The Research Council of Finland’s review of the state of scientific research in Finland aimed to produce data to support the development efforts of higher education institutions and government research institutes and to strengthen the knowledge base available to science policy stakeholders. The reviews were published in the form of statistical and bibliometric analyses on research funding, research personnel and scientific publishing. They also included analyses on specific themes.

From 2025 onwards, the ‘State of Scientific Research in Finland’ reports will be replaced by data dashboards, which will provide key information on research funding granted by the Research Council of Finland (RCF) and the Strategic Research Council (SRC).

The first published dashboard presents data on the impact of RCF-funded research. Future dashboards will include data on research themes, application and decision statistics, and SRC funding.

The last ‘State of Scientific Research in Finland’ statistics were published in June 2024.
