Trans-Atlantic Platform

The Research Council of Finland participates in the Trans-Atlantic Platform for the Social Sciences and Humanities (T-AP), an extensive international collaboration between humanities and social science funders. The T-AP partners include research funding organisations from South America, North America and Europe (e.g. USA, Argentina, Canada, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, UK and Germany). The organisations include the Academy’s partners CONICYT from Chile and São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) from Brazil.

The aim of T-AP is to advance and increase transatlantic research collaboration between both funders and researchers in the participating countries. Another aim is to heighten awareness of the role the social sciences and humanities play.

The network funds three research programmes:

  • Digging into Data Challenge (2017–2021), which includes four Finnish subprojects
  • Social Innovation (2019–2022), which includes two Finnish subprojects.
  • Recovery, Renewal and Resilience in a Post-Pandemic World (2022-2024), which includes three Finnish subprojects
