Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE JPI)

The EU Joint Programming Initiative Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE JPI) was launched in October 2010.  FACCE JPI brings together 24 EU Member States and associated countries, which have committed themselves to promoting European research in order to address the challenges associated with the needs of a growing population: the production of food, feed, fibres and biofuels in a changing climate.

The initiative coordinates national research programmes and strives to reduce overlapping research and cover information gaps. It also seeks to create synergies and critical mass at European level in these research areas. It promotes the efficient utilisation of research funding and organises calls for proposals.

The FACCE Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) serves as a roadmap for research and innovation and guides the activities of joint programming towards the future.

The Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Research Council of Finland participate in the activities of the FACCE Governing Board. The work within the initiative involves a network of researchers and other actors in the field.
