Our organisation
The Research Council of Finland consists of three scientific councils, the Finnish Research Infrastructure Committee, the Strategic Research Council and the Administration Office.
General policies and objectives are decided by the Board, which also allocates research appropriations to the scientific councils and the Finnish Research Infrastructure Committee.
Administration Office
The Administration Office prepares and implements decisions made by the Board, the scientific councils, the Finnish Research Infrastructure Committee, the Strategic Research Council, subcommittees and the President, and makes the agreements resulting from the decisions.
The President heads the day-to-day work at the Administration Office. The management also includes three executive directors. The organisation of the Administration Office consists of three units: the Operations Management Unit, the Funding Opportunities Unit and the Impact and Science Policy Unit.
With a staff of some 135, the Administration Office sees to the administration, does all the necessary groundwork for official decision-making by the Board and scientific councils, and executes their decisions. Staff at the Administration Office also prepare science policy surveys and plans and participate in several Finnish and international working groups.
