NordForsk funds research projects on the green transition
The joint Nordic research funding organisation NordForsk had decided the projects to be funded under the Green Transition initiative.
NordForsk received a total of 111 proposals in the initiative’s call. Based on an international peer review, funding was granted to ten Nordic research consortia.
Finnish partners from the University of Lapland, the University of Jyväskylä and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd are project coordinators in three of the funded projects. The funded projects also include Finnish partners from the University of Helsinki, Aalto University, the University of Oulu, Åbo Akademi University and the Finnish Environment Institute.
New research knowledge has an important role to play in the green transition. The NordForsk-funded projects focus on strengthening three dimensions essential for a just green transition through Nordic-Baltic research cooperation. All research consortia in the initiative include participants from at least three Nordic countries or two Nordic countries and Estonia or Lithuania.
The projects will address issues such as energy-efficient and resilient food production systems, gender perspectives in strengthening the long-term equality and effectiveness of the green transition, and legitimacy, democratic engagement and citizen-involvement in the green transition.
