Academy Professor
A post as Academy Professor is intended for high-calibre scientists whose research promotes scientific renewal, pursues scientific breakthroughs and seeks solutions for the benefit of society.
Academy Professors are already expected to be at the international forefront of their fields. They are also expected to strengthen and raise the level of expertise in their fields in Finland. To be granted an Academy Professorship, the researcher needs to have a wide range of impact. The funding is granted for up to six years.
Applications for Academy Professor funding are invited approximately every three years.
Academy Research Fellow
An Academy Research Fellow produces high-quality, high-impact research that stimulates scientific renewal. Academy Research Fellows are talented early-career researcher. The funding supports the researchers so that they can increase their competencies and make significant career progress towards more demanding research positions and achieve an established position in the national and international research community. The funding is granted for four years.
Applications for Academy Research Fellowships are invited in the winter call.
Clinical Researcher funding
The Research Council of Finland funds part-time research by physicians and researchers engaged in clinical practice. The aim is to promote clinical research careers in cooperation with, for example, university hospitals, and to encourage medical doctors and other researchers working in clinical practice to engage in research.
Applications for Clinical Researcher funding are invited in the winter call.
Mobility Funding
The Research Council of Finland’s mobility funding is based on bilateral agreements and promotes the international interaction of Finnish researchers and the internationalisation of Finnish research environments. The mobility funding applies to the following countries: Mainland China, Germany and Japan. The funding is especially designed to support early-career, postdoctoral researchers.
Applications for mobility funding are invited in August–September.
