Survey on strategic research themes 2023 has closed – thank you for your suggestions and constructive discussions!

Our survey mapping out new strategic research theme proposals has ended. We received more than 130 proposals to support the theme work of the Strategic Research Council (STN) by the deadline.  A more than 400 users logged into the survey and had active discussions with each other.

We would like to warmly thank everyone who participated in the survey for their new ideas for themes and for the constructive discussion that has taken place to further develop them. Active participation in the process supports the preparation of high-quality theme proposals, and considering ideas from many different perspectives helps to deepen and enrich them.

All suggestions and comments will be reviewed as part of the SRC theme preparation. The next step is to work on the themes with the Council and in a stakeholder workshop in early 2024. In addition, the Council will organise its usual open theme hearing in May 2024 where interested parties will have the opportunity to hear the Council's views on the elements of the draft theme and to comment on the draft theme proposal. After the event, the SRC will make a decision on the theme initiative, which will be handed over to the Government. Based on the Government's decision, SRC will prepare the programmes for strategic research to be launched in 2025 and their funding applications in autumn 2024.
